Frequenty Asked Questions:

General/Member Accounts:

"How do I change my profile around to make it all neat and pretty?"

CSS code can be inserted into your Eekline profile to spice it up a bit. This is done by using the <style> html tag. If you're unsure as to how to do this, you can easily find tutorials or even pre-existing code by searching. The code can be inserted into your "About Me" section and it will overwrite the normal Eekline template. Here's some example code you can use to help you get started:

<style type="text/css"> .hidethem {display:none; visibility:hidden;}
.section1:before { content: "Body Properties"; }
body {
background-color:ffffff;
background-image:url('http://www.putimageurlhere.jpg');
background-position:center center;
background-repeat:repeat;
background-attachment:fixed;
}

.section2:before { content: "Table Section Properties"; }
table, tr, td {background:transparent; border:0px;}
table table table {background-color:white;}
table table table {
border-width:5px;
border-color:black;
border-style:solid;
}
table table table table {border:0px;}

.section3:before { content: "Text and Link Properties"; }
input {background-color:transparent !important;}
td, span, div, input, a, table td div div font,
body div table tbody tr td font {font-family:Arial !important;}
td, span, div, input, table td div div font,
body div table tbody tr td font {color:black!important;}
.nametext, .whitetext12, .lightbluetext8, .orangetext15, .blacktext12,
.redtext, .redbtext, .blacktext10, .btext {color:black!important;}
a {color:black!important; text-decoration:none !important; text-transform:none !important; font-weight:normal !important; font-style:normal !important;}
a:hover {color:Darkred !important; text-decoration:none !important; text-transform:none !important; font-weight:normal !important; font-style:normal !important;}

.section4:before { content: "Other Properties"; }
img {border:0px;}
.blacktext10 {
border-top-width:1px; border-bottom-width:0px; border-left-width:0px; border-right-width:0px;
border-color:black; border-style:solid; display:block; width:100F

.bbz { version:0.6; }
.moreCSS:after { content: " Additional codes go under this line. "; }

</style>

"I lost my password...how do I get it back?"

Simply click on the "forgot my password" link on either the login or the home page and it will email you the password you used to register to the email you registered with.

"Why does it reset my information when I try to edit my profile?"

This is because you do not have javascript enabled on your computer. Try enabling it. We weill be adapting our system soon so this will work for the people who prefer to keep javascript off.

"How do you change my age?"

Currently, you can not. We will allow this in the future. If you really need to change your age, contact an administrator.

"I accidently signed up as a male/female...help?!"

Same deal as the question above. If you entered the wrong gender and need to change it, contact an administrator.

"How do I delete a friend?"

On your home page, click "View My Friends". From there, you should see a "De-friend" option listed under each friend. Click the De-Friend link and then click Ok to the confirmation.

"What's up with this Places thing?"

I'm glad you asked. Places are similar to artist accounts, only owners of establishments or businesses can set them up. Once you've added a place to your list of places, you're able to set that place as your current location. This is handy if you're going out and you'd like to let your friends know what you're up to. Also, other people who are thinking about attending the same place can get a "guest list" so they can see who's there before they decide if they want to go. If you'd like to see a place on eekline that's not there already, DON'T make an account yourself. Either contact the place and let them know about the site and that you'd like to see them here, or send us their e-mail and we'll do it for you. You can send suggestions for places you'd like to see on eekline to alex@eekline.com.

"What is the deal with the TOP GUYS/GIRLS thing?"

The top guys/girls is an average rating of your photos (those little OMG to WoW! scales under all the phots). It averages your ratings and sticks you on the top lists depending on your scores. We'll have more categories for top users coming soon.

"Can I add artist music to my personal page?"

In the near future, we'll be giving each and every user thier own personal playlists.

"How do I search for other members?"

Click on "Search Users" on the sidebar menu, or click on Members, and click "Search Members" at the very top of the page.

"I signed up an account, but it doesn't show up under new members."

You must atleast upload one photo to show up under new members.

"Who runs this site?"

Eekline is run by Bob, Alex, Aaron, Ross and Charles. You can visit the About link to find out more about each person.

"Will you be adding a college feature to the site?"

Yes, we are planning that for the near future.

Artist Accounts:

"How do I sign up as an artist?"

On the registration form, there is a link to the artist registration page. Or you can click here.

"How are top bands calculated?"

Top bands are calculated by how many users have you listed as their favorite band. There's no cheating on Eekline. :) Most sites like these use a click or song play method to calculate top artists, but these methods are easily manipulated. If you want to be a top artist on Eekline, you'll have to win over the majority. Overall, this proves to be a much fairer method for all of the bands on the site.

"Why can't I invite everybody to become a fan?"

The only people you're allowed to invite as a fan are people who's 3 favorite genres match any of your 3 alloted genres that your music falls into, so it's very important for your promotion that you pick 3 genres. If you can't find an alternate genre that matches your style, it's always best to simply pick the closest match. This feature of Eekline accomplishes two things: First of all, it targets your promotion to people who are more likely to like your music, and second, it keeps bands from smothering users with requests from bands that they'd never listen to. Users are allowed to pick "Any" as a genre, an users are allowed to manually become a fan of any band they like regardless of what genre they're listed in.

"What happens when I invite somebody as a bandmember?"

Be careful about who you send bandmember invites to. When a user accepts a bandmember invite, they're then added to the "Bandmembers" section of your artist profile, and you can specify the instrument they play. This is simply so each of the bandmembers can be showcased, and also so users can click on each individual bandmember to find out more about each one by checking out their personal profile in addition to the band profile. Inviting everybody to be a bandmember is NOT reccommended, as this will make it appear as if you have a very large band, and that anybody listed is associated with you.

Place Profiles:

"What is a Place account?"

A place account is an account for businesses or establishments to register on Eekline where they can showcase their Place and what they do. It could be a nightclub, a coffee house, a restaurant, or even a retail store. It's a great way to keep in touch with your staff all in one place and also to communicate with your customers and patrons.

"How do I sign up as a Place?"

On the registration page, there is a link to the Place registration page. Or you can click here.

"How are Top Places calculated?"

Top places are calulated by how many people list them as their favorite place. This will be implemented soon.

"What happens if I invite somebody as a staffmember?"

Be careful about who you send staffmember invites to. When a user accepts a staffmember invite, they're then added to the "Staff" section of your Place profile. You can then specifiy their role with your Place. This is simply so each of the staffmembers can be showcased, and also so users can click on each individual staffmember to find out more about each one by checking out their personal profile in addition to the band profile. It's also useful when Eekline users have a question about your Place. Inviting everybody to be a staffmember is NOT reccommended, as this will make it appear as if everybody listed is associated with you.
